Throughout the last 30 years, we have seen an exceptional evolution in how marketing campaigns function. From greater access to technology to a wider range of mediums to utilize, marketing campaigns have been able to utilize the innovation that has taken place in today’s workforce. To get a full understanding of how marketing has changed, let’s take a look at some of the most successful and memorable marketing campaigns to date.

Nike

Known as one of the largest retailers of athletic apparel, Nike has established itself as a leader in its industry. Part of this success came from their marketing decision in 1988, which introduced the slogan, “Nike: Just Do It.” The now-iconic slogan helped propel the company into further success, bringing in an estimated $2 billion in sales following its release. The company maintains a strong position in athletic apparel and has been successful in its marketing efforts.

Dos Equis

The trademark beer, Dos Equis, rose in fame after releasing their famous, “Most Interesting Man In The World,” marketing campaign. When the well-known beer released the campaign in 2009, most beer companies were seeing decreases in revenue because of the rise in craft beer’s popularity. Dos Equis, on the other hand, saw a significant 22% increase in sales. The Most Interesting Man In The World campaign helped shift how companies market beer.

Dove

In recent years, more focus has been placed on promoting natural beauty and disrupting how the fashion and beauty industries work. One of the pioneers in this effort is Dove with their “Natural Beauty Campaign.” After completing a study on what women’s beauty beliefs and priorities are, the company found that their marketing approach did not match how women felt. This would lead them to create the Natural Beauty Campaign, which focused on highlighting a woman’s natural beauty. Since it first began in 2004, the campaign remains one of the most successful marketing campaigns in recent history.
